INFORMATION ABOUT THE NON TOXICITY OF POLYAC® RESINS
SAFETY
PMMA (Poly Methyl MethAcrylate) resins are considered irritant to the skin on direct contact.
These resins are neither toxic nor harmful.
Other resins can eventually cause health problems and allergic reactions.
Since the development of PMMA resins, no health problems or allergies have been reported in their use.
The specific odour of methacrylate monomer does not present any hazard.
Proper ventilation of the work area is recommended to remove the odour.
The odour will disappear soon after polymerisation of the resin.
Methacrylate monomer has a very low odour threshold (0.008 ppm, 0.8 mg/m³).
The allowable concentration for 8 hours per day and 5 working days per week is 50 ppm.
(600 mg/m³ Sweden – Dutch Advisory Council 38 mg/m³)
Personal protective equipment:
• Persons in direct contact with POLYAC® resins are required to wear the following personal protective
equipment:
- gloves, safety goggles and mask.
• Persons located more than 5m away from the processing area:
